last night was the hold steady. they played 17 songs and opened with "Positive Jam". it was one of the best shows I have ever been to.

I got it, I listened to it, it's amazing. It's the most eclectic shit ever - real depressing at times, sometimes heavy, always awesome. Honestly, it's 10/10 - pick it up!

I'm getting the new PYGMY LUSH cassette which just came out. I'll get the CD when it comes out, too cuz fuck it - they are awesome dudes. I'm gonna try and bring them here.

1:11 am - the new bad religion song...
amazing! It's called "Honest Goodbye", and not only does it have great pop sensibility as well as the harder edges that make them a great punk band, but as usual the lyrics are genius!

from mr. brett posting on the br page: "The song is about Perry Smith who was portrayed by Capote as a sympathetic, psychopathic killer - quite a paradox. The song asks how a man with seemingly gentile sensibilities can commit brutal heinous deeds. As to the many questions about the word "trasubstantiation", I simply meant to invoke Perry's early training in catholicism and the contrast between the profane (knuckle cracking nuns) and the sacred (receiving the eucharist), and the possiblility that these conflicting messages contributed to the make-up of the man he became."

11:28 pm - not proud of it

so i've been on a weeklong binge of Fucked Up's newest album "Hidden World". Really good stuff, I'd describe it as if black flag were music majors in college.

Oh, and I have a job now working alongside 2 of my best friends Dan and Evan, at a bar and grille in lakewood called Around The Corner/Mickey's. I'm a dishwasher, and I should be working there more and more in the next few months. It's an awesome job, and so fucking easy. stop by and say hello soon!!

Today marked the return of date days between emily and I, which was totally awesome. We went to crocker park, the movies, chipotle - and I stayed over last night and tonight. Which last night we went to b-sides and I discovered the back patio! also got to see shannon and surprisingly eian for the first time in about 4 years. dude is fucking ripped! the air force made him a beast but otherwise he's EXACTLY like i remember. Shannon and I talked about college for a bit and he is going to help me out, since he goes to kent and knows about what i wanna major in.

by the way, saw 300 today and it was really good. Not one of the best movies ever made, as a fuckton of people have been saying - but it was good.

I still don't understand why, for the love of god, would they stress the phalanx sooooooooooo much in the plot and then have them completely scatter when fighting in 75% of the battle scenes!

oh well, it was a good movie nonetheless. My eyes watered up during the first battle scene because it was one of the most visually appealing things I have ever seen.

so what did we learn from this post? I have a job, 300 isn't completely overrated yet has slight discrepencies, myspace is a terrific social networking tool, and if you get the new fucked up album you'll be a better person for it. wow, I should just write all my LJ entries like this last paragraph!

So in august, I'm bringing fucking Armchair Martian to cleveland, and potentially at my house! I'm gonna try to make it at an actual venue, but if no one can do it for one reason or another - it very well could be at my house.
